The Plate Dance (Indonesian: Tari Piring) is traditional dance that originated from the Minangkabau of West Sumatra. The dance describes the sense of joy and gratitude of Minangkabau society when the harvest has come, in which a young quartermaster swinging motion steps to show their skills in playing the plate that is in their hands.
This dance is accompanied by a song that is played with a musical instrument 'Talempong' and 'saluang', in which movement is done quickly while holding the plate in the palm of their hand.
