Another tourist attraction which show the origin and has a long history of the Minangkabau story in Tanah Datar. This tourist attraction called Silinduang Moon Palace (Indonesian: Istana Silinduang Bulan) . Closed in just 2 kilometers from the Pagaruyung Palace, the Palace was the site of the old palace which burned in 1966. Silinduang Moon Palace located in the pagaruyung village, district of Tanjung Emas, about 5 kilometers from the capital city of Tanah Datar District Batusangkar. The Palace was built in the late 80s was built as the residence of the descendants of the king who ever ruled in Pagaruyung. Establishment Silinduang Moon Palace could not escape from the spread and development of Islam in West Sumatra. According to history, Silinduang Moon Name first used for named Pagaruyung Palace founded on the current site in 1550.
Establishment and naming of the palace was intended to mark the beginning of Hijri calendar year based on the calculation and application of Islamic syariah law officially the Kingdom Pagaruyung. All of the construction of this palace was built purely with private family costs. Today visitors can see up close the beauty and grandeur of its architecture. Silinduang Moon Palace has a size of 28 x 8 meters. According to the categorization Gadang house, Silinduang Moon Palace has a style of architecture called Alang Babega. have 7 roof is shaped gonjong (canopy). The entire building has 9 rooms. On either side of the front of the house there is a pair rangkiang, the building that serves as a barn, named Si Tinjau Lauik and Si Bayau bayau.
In the main building there are four bedrooms or cubicles, on the right side Anjuang Gold, Silver Anjuang on the left side, and kitchen. Both anjuang function as "Status Rajo throne" or king. Gold Anjuang dedicated king, called "Rajo Tuo" and Silver Anjuang for the crown prince, called "Tuan Gadih." There are more than 200 carved motif carvings on the outer surface of the building Silindung Moon Palace. Dominating color engravings are red, yellow, black and brown. Palace interior is covered with cloth curtains and ceiling covered with gold thread embroidery in a variety of motives.
Although the Pagaruyung kingdom is not there anymore, Silinduang Moon remains a palace for the Minangkabau culture. Aside from being a royal residence, the palace serves as a center for indigenous Minangkabau. The Palace also holds many historical relics and heritage associated with the long history of the Kingdom Pagaruyung.
